A long time member of Emmylou Harris’ band “Red Dirt Boys”, Phil Madeira has written songs for Garth Brooks, Alison Krauss, Keb’ Mo’, The Band Perry, and his “From This Valley” won a Grammy for the Civil Wars in 2014.
A gifted performer, Phil has quietly released several albums over the years, but 2018’s “Providence” has made a splash, garnering international praise and critical acclaim. The Nashville Scene proclaimed the record “some of the best — and funkiest — piano music to come out of Nashville in recent memory.” With a nod to Dr. John, Randy Newman, and Mose Allison, Phil takes you home, literally and lyricall, to his childhood in Rhode Island.
His “Mercyland: Hymns For The Rest Of Us” records have been a hit with the Americana crowd and beyond, as he plums the depths of spirituality and real life. The artists who’ve participated and co-written with Phil on these projects include Emmylou Harris, The Wood Bros, The Lone Bellow, The Civil Wars, Mat Kearney, John Scofield, Dan Tyminski, Buddy Miller, Cindy Morgan and more.
Phil also conducts a semi annual seminar called Mercyland Songwriter Workshops.
