Twisted Pine has been praised by NPR for an "upbeat, poppy vibe; energetic, driving rhythms; and virtuosic solos.” The four players met on the Boston bluegrass scene and built their initial sound with an infinite Tuesday residency at the mobbed dive bar, The Cantab. Explorers all, their individual ideas, sounds, and influences led them far from those early days. Right Now, their latest release from Signature Sounds Recordings, ranges without limits from bluegrass to funk, jazz, pop, and soul. "They were once bluegrass," wrote The Boston Globe, "but ... this Boston band has become something else, a wider version of string band, boundary jumpers ... ” Twisted Pine is Kathleen Parks on five-string fiddle and lead vocals, Dan Bui on mandolin, Chris Sartori on upright bass, and Anh Phung on flute. Everybody sings.
